Fall Family Photos at the Dallas Arboretum

Fall is definitely one of my favorite seasons. I love when the weather starts to get a bit cooler and pumpkin spice everything hits the stores. Even though we’ve only experienced a faux Fall here in Dallas, we took full advantage and got outside with Lowe for Fall family photos.

Since Lowe was born right in the thick of the lockdown, we didn’t get a chance to take newborn photos. I was looking forward to dolling her up and watching her being posed with a super cute spring themed backdrop. Since that didn’t happen, I’m likely going to get photos for every other holiday haha. Okay, let’s be honest…I was probably going to do that anyway!

For our Fall photos, I knew I wanted to take them at the Dallas Arboretum. If you haven’t been yet, it’s a beautiful place to visit with family, friends, or even solo. There’s tons of foliage to admire and they allow you to bring your own food and beverages (yes, even wine ;-), for picnics. Autumn at the Arboretum is their annual fall pumpkin festival where over 90,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash are on display throughout the grounds. It’s really beautiful and makes for the perfect fall outing.

Our photos were taken by my friend Farran of Farran Manuel Photography. I’m always a little awkward with photos but Farran is always so patient with us and makes sure we get some great shots. As this was first time taking professional pictures with Lowe, I was worried about how she would do. We made sure to try and time the photos during her normal wake time and fed her right before we started so she would be full and satisfied. If you follow me on instagram, you know that Lowe loves to smile…when she feels like it.

She did not feel like it on picture day.

Par for course for a 6 month old I guess! Still, I love how our first official family photos turned out and I can’t wait to print and frame them. Check them out and let me know how we did!
